This country is one of the up and coming destinations on the world traveller’s ‘to do’ list. It is to be found in the Indian Ocean with over 1,430 miles of crystal white sparkling beaches that are a haven for diving, fishing, relaxing or for being married upon!
Evocative glimpses of solitary pieces of driftwood lying on the pristine beaches, silhouetted against a deep cerulean sky make the work-weary dream of lying under a palm tree with their toes in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and languidly turning the page of a book, whilst trying to decide what to do next – if anything. Time almost holds its breath here for you.
Mozambique is a country peppered with Portuguese influences, whether that’s language, food or culture, and these can be found in Maputo, arguably one of the prettiest of the continent’s capital cities. Maputo offers everyday market shopping at the huge Municipal Market, and at the other end of the scale, on the waterfront, you will find a variety of hotels and colourful restaurants all eager for your attention.
Inhaca Island, off the Maputo coast, is a popular tourist destination, offering beautiful coral reefs and wrecks for diving and snorkelling upon. For the fishermen amongst you, marlin, tuna and barracuda, amongst others, are the attraction. Other ‘must-see’ sights on this pretty little island are an historic lighthouse and protected forest on the western and south-eastern aspects where you can wander along the winding paths through the lush vegetation.
Inhaca. A sparkling jewel in the warm seas of the Indian Ocean.
