Spain

Spain has long been a favoured destination for the visitor due to its proximity to the UK, its Mediterranean climate, friendly peoples and an atmosphere of fun and relaxation. Whether staying in an hotel or self-catering apartment, Spain is as comfortable to holiday in as the soft leather gloves on sale in the local markets everywhere.

Spain has a proud and cultural history shown in buildings such as the magnificent walled town of Ávila, or “Ávila de los Caballeros” to give it one of its more romantic names. This Romanesque and Medieval city has many cathedrals and churches of this period to visit. Córdoba, Valladolid and Grenada are fine examples of the Moorish influence in Spain over previous centuries. To add to the melting pot of architecture there are the Gothic and Renaissance cathedrals of Seville and Malaga respectively.

But Spain today is a modern, vibrant and colourful country, offering more than just sun, sea, sand and sangria. Away from the tourist track, regional Spain offers a wealth of different customs, cuisine, arts and culture.

Therefore, a visit to the fabulous Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències which contains, amongst others, a planetarium and laserium, an opera house, plaza, landscaped walkways, museum and open-air oceanographic park. The whole concept is surreal, and is one intake of breath after another as the visitor moves around the vast area which was built on the dry river bed of the Turia River. Architecture at its most brilliant and truly, a feast for the senses.
